No Kane? No problem: Is Evan Ferguson on Bayern Munich’s radar?

The fact that Bayern Munich are going to be in the market for a striker in the summer is a widely reported fact. Despite the success of Eric-Maxim Choupo Moting this season in replacing Robert Lewandowski, the club are looking to the future and while Harry Kane is being touted as their number one target, there could be a very useful alternative on the club’s radar.

At 34 years old, Choupo Moting is not getting any younger and while enjoying a purple patch in the autumn of his career, Bayern are understandably planning for the long-term with a new number. Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Harry Kane has been widely linked with a possible move to the Allianz Arena, but any such move is far from straight-forward.

The London side want to extend his contract but should he decide to move, a raft of big clubs will move quickly to sign him- Manchester United are already reported to be putting together a mega-money package.

The size of any fee demanded could be a potential barrier to Bayern meaning other targets are going to have to identified. One such target is reported to be Brighton and Ireland striker Evan Ferguson, who is gaining a lot of admirers after bursting onto the scene this season.

18-year-old Ferguson has scored three goals in ten Premier League matches this season and provided two assists. He recently made his international debut for the Republic of Ireland (scoring on his debut against Latvia) and Bayern scouts have been to watch him on a few occasions. He is widely seen as a hugely talented prospect in England by experts.

He has a contract with the South Coast side until 2026 (only extended last summer), but a big, tempting offer in the summer could see him leave Brighton. Bayern would face stiff competition from host of English clubs, but would fancy their chances of persuading him to move to Bavaria.

Bayern will have their eyes on a number of targets (Randal Kolo Muani?), but Ferguson could be a striking jewel available relatively cheaply in comparison to Kane or Kolo Muani.
