Bayern close to signing highly rated Aussie youngster Nestory Irankunda

With Bayern’s hunt for a big money striker dominating the headlines, the club have been active in the background with reports claiming they are on the verge of signing highly rated Australian teenager Nestory Irankunda.

The 17-year-old currently plays for Adelaide United in the A League and is viewed as one of the most talented players under 20 in the country with five goals and two assists to his name thus far in his 19 appearances. Negotiations for the Tanzania-born attacker are said by BeIN to be at an advanced stage with the player set to be loaned back to the Australian side for next season before any move to Europe.

“Irankunda’s shooting power is so ferocious that it almost defies the laws of physics, and has become his trademark, as have the double and triple backflips” say BeIN.

It is hoped the teenager can follow a similar career path to that of Alphonso Davies, who was signed as a teenager by Bayern from Vancouver Whitecaps back in 2019. Davies has gone on to become one of the most successful signing of recent years and has seen his market value increase from the €14 million Bayern paid for him to a value of €70+ million today.

Irankunda is seen in Australia as the most exciting talent to have emerged from the A-League in its short history, and has the potential to make it at the highest level. He possesses lightning pace, is strong, has excellent technique, close dribbling skills and a very good understanding of the game for such a young man. A fee on around €350,000 plus add-ons is being suggested as the finncial outlay for the Bundesliga giants.

While there are countless examples of teenagers bursting onto the scene and being heralded as the ‘next big thing’ before disappearing without a trace. Bayern will be hoping Irankunda is the exception to the rule and they can replicate the success of Alphonso Davies.
