Milot Rashica Leaves Wednesday Training with Ankle Injury

Werder Bremen’s Milot Raschica had to leave training early Wednesday after suffering an ankle injury, leaving his status for the club’s season finale against 1. FC Köln in question.

Despite having not scored a goal since Werder’s 6-1 loss to Bayern München, the midfielder leads his club with seven goals this season.

The Kosovar international is reportedly on the wish lists of several clubs. Rashica’s contract reportedly has a clause that would drop his “escape clause” transfer fee from over €30 million to €15 million in the even Werder Bremen is relegated to the second division. Werder can still reach the relegation playoff in the final matchday of the season with a victory and a Fortuna Düsseldorf loss. Barring that, however, the club may contest the clause as having expired by date rather than by the season ending.

Whether Werder avoids the drop or not, with clubs like Liverpool FC, AC Milan, and Leipzig reportedly interested in acquiring him, Rashica may have played his final match for the green-and-white.
