Transfer profile: Eintracht Frankfurt signing Farès Chaibi

With all eyes on the ‘will he/ won’t he?’ saga surrounding Randal Kolo Muani, Eintracht have further strengthened their attacking options with the signing of forward Farès Chaibi from Toulouse. Here we take a closer look at the Adler’s latest acquisition…

After already signing Jessic Ngankam from Hertha Berlin and Omar Marmoush from VfL Wolfsburg this summer in anticipation at the sale of Randal Kolo Muani, Eintracht Frankfurt have splashed out a further €10 million on Algerian international Farès Chaibi. A day after banking €30 million from Napoli for Jesper Lindström, a third of that fee was instantly reinvested.

“With Farès Chaibi we have a player who is young and capable of developing and yet already has a lot of national and international experience” explained Frankfurt sporting director Timmo Hardung. “He can be used variably in several offensive positions and brings attributes that will enrich our game. In our conversations with Farès, we noticed how passionate he is about his new job and Eintracht Frankfurt. We look forward to seeing him in our colours from now on.”

The 20-year-old was born in Lyon and started out at the city’s academy before switching to Toulouse aged 16. Last season was his first as a professional and he instantly came to the fore with eight goals and seven assists across his 41 appearances for Les Pitchouns. He also helped them to success in the Coupe de France.

Chaibi is right-footed and can operate as a central striker or in fact anywhere across the frontline such is his versatility. His work-rate is impressive and he has already shown the hunger to progress his game quickly to a higher level. He has the awareness to get into dangerous positions and can create his own chances as well as chances for others. With time his shooting accuracy and decision-making will improve and if the meteoric progress that Kolo Muani made is any indicator, then he is set for a successful time on the Main.
