
The 2019-20 Bundesliga season will go down as one of the most unique in history after the unprecedented impact the Covid-19 pandemic had on German football. The Bundesliga led the way after the lockdown with Bayern Munich ultimately crowned champions for an eighth successive season. Here at the Bundesliga Fanatic, we looked back at each team’s season and compiled a report card.

Bayern enjoyed a magnificent Rückrunde to storm to the title leaving Borussia Dortmund to finish second for the second year in a row. The first season under Julian Nagelsmann saw RB Leipzig claim third with Marco Rose steering Borussia Mönchengladbach into the Champions League in his debut season.

Bayer Leverkusen had the disappointment of missing out on the top four and losing in the DFB Pokal final. Hoffenheim sacked their coach just before the season concluded, but still claimed a Europa League berth and will be joined by Wolfsburg. It was another top season from Christian Streich’s Freiburg, who continue to surprise.

It was a strange season for Eintracht as they waivered between relegation and Europe. Hertha had a soap opera type season with four coaches employed, but they just about finished above city rivals Union, who survived their debut Bundesliga season. Schalke endured a torrid Rückrunde and face an uncertain future financially.
